What’s the point of action? Diverting, visual, macho, thrilling, yes. But so what? In filmmaking and story terms, can it do more than just throw “ouch" punches?
When I shot Daredevil, a lady in NYC told me she just fast forwards the action to get back to the drama. I wanted to force her to shadow me throughout the gruelling process of prepping, rehearsing & shooting action!
So, how do you make action important? How can you shoot action so it isn’t just a load of cuts? How can the camera help tell the story?
I'm a professional studio/session guitarist, composer/songwriter, producer and guitar teacher.
