One Piece Deep Dive: Action, Adventure, Character
There had never before been a successful live action adaptation of a manga, or anime, despite many attempts. When One Piece screened in 2023, it broke all records, becoming the number one global hit across 84 territories, beating Netflix blockbusters Stranger Things and Wednesday.
Marc was the pilot director, responsible for establishing the look and tone of the show. At this Shindig, Marc explains his approach to finding the look, to shooting the action scenes, to production design, to lens choice, to rehearsal, and to the key task of finding a global cast during a pandemic - to delivering a show that succeeded against the odds.
