I'm a recent graduate of BA Hons Costume Interpretation with Design at The Northern School of Art with a First Class Honours degree, and recipient of the STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2021 Award of my cohort!
I am extremely eager to break through into the Costume Industry and build my knowledge of all fields within the Costume Department, from the embellishment sector, to the breaking down and distressing areas of the job. Having completed several jobs and placements throughout my studies and sincce graduating from The Northern School of Art with a first class honors degree in BA Hons Costume Interpretation with Design, my passion has been ignited and I can't wait to meet more exciting people on set and behind the scenes whilst creating the same awe inspiring experiences I have felt on the other side of the camera for an audience! My ultimate aim is to climb up the ladder and reach the top positions within the Costume Team, all whilst enjoying the process and soaking up each new working day that comes!
My hobbies include reading and broadening me knowledge on my own personal academic areas of interest, which focus manily on the history of design and haute couture fashion; I have always found the iconic courute designers of the 20th and 21st centuries a huge source of inspiration, with names such as Coco Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior and Yves Saint Laurent springing to mind. I love the excitment and anticpation of waiting for a new collection to walk the Parisian runways!
I love travelling, and have many locations on my wishlist ready to go once we are able to travel again; I would love the visit some of the major fashion captials, especially New York!
In my spare time, I also try to brush up on my sewing and embellishment skills, having secured myself several paid commissions through my richly embroidered and beaded designs; lots of time consuming embellishment, like hand embroidery and gold work, is something which I like to always try to include in my projects, as i find the symbolism that it conveys intriguing towards representing different characters, bringing my costumes to life more!
