Puvanai "Top" Tarasin is a film director from Bangkok, Thailand. He has a BA in Fine Arts majoring in Film from the University of Canterbury in Christchurch, New Zealand. He began his professional career in 2006 at Bangkok-based production company Phoscine where he directed over 100 commercials.

Top relocated to London in 2017 and directed the short films "Scarecrow" (Official Selection 2017 Mykonos Biennale Film Festival / 2017 Blow- up International Arthouse Film Festival Chicago / 2018 Revelation Perth International Film Festival / 2018 Bangkok Underground Film Festival), "Blast Off" (Semi-finalist 2018 Los Angeles Cinefest), and "As It Comes", (Winner Honorable Mention 2018 Independent Shorts Awards / Official Selection 2018 ARFF Barcelona / 2018 Diversions International Short Film Festival / 2018 Bengal International Short Film Festival).

In 2019, Top directed "Your Reality" a devastating short about gaslighting which won Best Short / Best Acting Performance at the Sept-Oct 2019 White Deer International Film Festival and Honorable Mention at the August 2019 Florence Film Awards.

In 2020, I directed "The Bunker" a post-apocalyptic short about existential dread and government control. The film won Best Cinematography at the July 2020 Thundr Short Film Showcase.

His latest script "I Never Knew You" has won numerous finalist awards such as the 2020 Bucharest Shortcut Cinefest and 2020 Kinodrome International Motion Picture and Screenplay Festival.

Top is also a 1st Assistant Director, storyboard artist, and editor of short and feature films, as well as an Official Jury Member of Kino London's The People's Film Festival which is now in its second year.

His stylistic heroes are David Lynch, David Fincher, Andrei Tarkovsky, Alfonso Cuaron, Wes Anderson, and PT Anderson.
