Screenwriter (Call for scripts)

Every year, Voices with Impact funds ten filmmaking teams $7.5k USD each to produce 5-minute short films on underrepresented mental health topics. They have recently announced their latest open call for film proposals, and we're looking for up to three screenwriters to partner with for submissions.

Story criteria

• Scripts less than 10 pages
• The story must address the topic of "Invisibility/Visibility: The seen and unseen of mental health"
• Ideally a comedy or dark comedy.
• Please no horror or thriller stories, or scenes of self-harm.
• Accurate depictions of mental health issues, stemming from credible research sources and lived experience, cultural sensitivity, and awareness around the topic
• Stories with the potential reduce existing stigma
• Bonus points for unresolved endings

If awarded the grant, the timeline will be:

• Shortlist contacted for final interview in October 2024
• Winners notified by October 30 2024
• Production: November 2024-April 2025
• Films delivered by April 15 2025
• World Premiere in June 2025
