Columbo Balagoon is a gritty, politically-charged screenplay inspired by real events that took place in St Pauls, Bristol, during the 1980s. The story follows Columbo, a former militant activist forced into exile in Gambia under the name John Cabot. Now a teacher and father, he grapples with memories of police brutality, community betrayal, and radical alliances—including covert ties with Irish paramilitaries.

As the present-day narrative unfolds, Columbo’s daughter, Enna, begins to uncover the secrets of his past, challenging the carefully constructed life he’s built. Through flashbacks, we witness the street-level resistance, personal vendettas, and internal fractures that once tore his community apart.

At its core, the script explores themes of systemic racism, legacy, survival, and moral ambiguity, reflecting how state oppression can infiltrate even the closest bonds—and how redemption is often found not in violence, but in passing knowledge on to the next generation
