A cicatrix is the scar of a healed wound; it's also a play on words (siccuh tricks.)
Cicatrix: To All the Wounds We Had to Finally Heal is an episodic docuseries **(**currently in pre-production) about the plight, trauma, healing, and redemption of Black women. The film shows a glimpse of our experience with our bodies, love, ourselves, our religion, and our identities.
Cicatrix: To All the Wounds We Had to Finally Heal will be six parts, each episode will cover a topic on wounds/traumas the director and producer experienced with photoshoot/ abstract images, film, interviews from maternal health advocates and excerpts from local to global black women revolutionaries. Trauma is inherently ugly and it hides in the shadows of shame and guilt. The goal isn't to exploit trauma, but to find the light and the beauty in it, to be free and liberated.
We will also be visually telling the story of “Lotus” who will be seen going through stages of drama, grief and eventually healing. Lotus represents the director, a Black woman, who can relate to Black women not only in America, but in the world, as we’ve all endured some amount of suffering and pain & disparity in one point of our lives. She will be transporting from one visual to another each episode with her inner child/versions of her past, through a mirror.
