The Actors Journey is a series of intensive workshops centred on mental and physical preparation for professional and experienced actors.

Learn how to increase emotional authenticity and develop physical vocabulary in your practice, and find new ways to embody and portray complex characters.

Develop physical vocabulary to bring depth and authenticity to your roles.

This intensive workshop is aimed at professional or experienced actors. The session is designed to build your skills in physical preparation, inviting you to find new ways to embody and portray complex characters.

Why This Workshop?

Only 45% of communication happens through spoken words, meaning that actors must go beyond the script in every role. Acting coach Ricardo Ventura has a wealth of experience in physical and mask theatre, as well as acting for stage, giving insight into how to combine physical skills with dialogue to create more compelling characters. This workshop will take a deep dive into the power of storytelling using physical communication and expression.

Workshop overview:

  • Introduction to Physical and Emotional Preparation

Understand the importance of physical preparation and how this helps to engage audiences and bring characters to life.

  • Mastering Physical Control

Learn dynamic exercises to expand your physical vocabulary and increase your stage presence.

The activities will explore movement, body awareness, and the expression of emotions in physical language.

  • Physicality and Character

Learn to tell a story through movement using "character walk" techniques.

Practice physical transformation techniques, embodying diverse and multi-layered characters.

  • Scene Work

Apply what you've learned by acting selected scenes in groups and pairs, focusing on physical characterisation. You will receive feedback to support your personal skills development.

  • Reflection and Discussion

This is a chance to reflect on your experiences of the day with the group, considering the highlights and challenges and how you can take this forward in your practice.
