I'm looking for a producer to collaborate with me on an independent narrative short film, What Does It Feel Like to Die?, which I've written and am developing as cinematographer.
Set around the final hours of a grandmother's life, the film follows three generations of women navigating complicated family histories, unresolved trauma and the question of what we owe one another at the end of life.
Told through contrasting perspectives, the film explores memory, forgiveness, obligation and the uncertainty of being present for someone who may no longer recognise you.
It's an intimate, performance-led drama with a strong emphasis on subjective cinematography, sound and visual storytelling.
I'm a cinematographer with over five years' experience working on major natural history productions for the BBC and National Geographic, now developing my work in narrative filmmaking.
While I've written the screenplay and developed the visual approach, I'm also considering bringing a separate director on board. I'd welcome collaborating with a producer who could help identify the right creative partner for the project.
I'm looking to build a small, experienced and collaborative crew to make the film to a high standard. We're currently considering shooting on Super 16mm, subject to budget and feasibility.
The aim is to shoot in early 2027, with a completed film by the end of April.
I'm looking for someone who can help take the project from development through to delivery, including:
Ideally, you'll have experience producing narrative shorts, enjoy working closely with filmmakers during development, and be comfortable balancing creative ambition with practical constraints.
I'm particularly interested in finding a genuine creative collaborator rather than someone purely focused on logistics.
Please get in touch with a little about yourself, relevant projects you've worked on and your availability. I'm happy to share the screenplay and discuss the project further.
Remuneration is still being established as part of the overall production budget and will be discussed openly before any commitment.
