A desperate bogus Nigerian student contracts a marriage with an East European national; to convince the immigration authority that their marriage is genuine, they move in together and eventually fall in love with each other. Unbeknownst to the naïve young student, his bride had been a victim of economically-forced migration: she was originally trafficked into the UK for prostitution. The groom has his own secret: a wife in Nigeria. The complications that arise from these secrets eventually lead to costly tragedy.

All this is happening against the background of the campaign for Britain to leave the European Union.
