Casting for a student graduation film: In a world of diminishing attention spans, a reserved man in his 30’s uses art to break the mould and defy normality.
Production based in Gloucestershire. Synopsis: In the near future, human’s attention spans have deteriorated, causing reliance on “prompt”, a bracelet that reminds the owner of daily tasks. Archer lives alone with his fish, and his prompt instructs him to carry out basic tasks including painting simplistic art. Frustration leads to his prompt being broken. Without a prompt, he is made to feel out of place until he discovers a fascination for abstract art. Through this, he learns he is not limited by concentration and doesn’t have to be afraid of engaging with his own thoughts.
Early 30’s, slim, dark shaggy hair.
Archer lives alone and has never searched for relationships. He is satisfied with his companionship of his new goldfish. He relies on his prompt to be reminded of all of his tasks to get him through the day. Most jobs have been taken over by technology, but Archer is a doorbell technician, it is a simple job for simple minds.
He is an only child, and his parents are quite old and live in another city, he messages every now and then but rarely. Archer’s main source of excitement is his activity of painting. Since he was a little boy, he has always painted the same pictures his prompt has instructed him to. He has reached a point of becoming fed up with the same art and needs more inspiration to paint. Without his prompt, he feels like an odd one out in the modern world, he feels safe relying on the same thing as everyone else and trusts it to give him a better life. But without it and through Zoe he realises there is more to life beyond the prompt.
