Six-year-old Jack and his Dad sit in their ‘Rocketshed’, a garden shed they’ve converted into a rocketship. The countdown timer ticks down. Two minutes to go.
Dad has a secret to hide. The Earth is about to be hit by an asteroid which is going to wipe out all life. So that his son Jacks last moments are filled with hope and excitement rather than fear he decides to play on a child's sense of imagination and transform their garden shed into a pretend rocketship. Jack believes he is about to blast off and go on some wonderful space adventures. They sit on detached car seats and their space suits are really boiler suits and motorbike helmets.
I'm looking for an actor who can show emotion whilst giving a restrained performance. Someone who is comfortable working with a child actor and is perhaps a bit of a big kid themselves.
The film is being partly funded by Exeter Phoenix in Devon and will have a premiere screening in December 2016. Filming will be taking in place in Devon, most likely late June or early-mid July.
