Out of the Blue (Short film, 2022)

SYNOPSIS

Ellen's missing child, Elliott, appears on her doorstep after 10 years. As they begin to spend more time together, more is unraveled about their troubled relationship. Ellen is forced to reflect back on the turbulent years of being a new mother, including some dark home truths that only she and Elliot know about. Some delusional thoughts that Ellen had worked through over the 10 years of grief begin to return; who is Elliott? Or rather, where is Elliott from?

This sci-fi maternal drama depicts the harrowing and traumatic experience of a woman suffering with postpartum psychosis. By telling this story, we hope to shed light on the illness and help friends and family of PP sufferers spot the signs. By telling it through a surreal sci-fi lens we are able to position the audience with our protagonist Ellen as she navigates the disorder.
