PLOT:
When a quiet young man begins speaking of a love that has transformed him, his friends are drawn into a story that feels almost too perfect—until reality begins to shift in unsettling ways.
A contemporary stage piece inspired by the Italian-Dolce Stil Novo tradition, exploring idealised love versus reality. This is a performance-driven piece with strong emotional subtext, minimal staging, and a focus on naturalistic acting.
DANTE (Male, 20–37ys)
Quiet, introspective, emotionally intense. Lives deeply within his inner world. The role requires subtlety and strong internalisation — much of the performance is carried through stillness and presence rather than overt expression.
LORENZO (Male, 20–37ys)
Grounded, direct, slightly cynical but caring. Acts as the voice of logic and realism. Natural delivery, and the ability to balance humour with underlying concern.
ANDREA (Male, 20–37ys)
Warm, empathetic, and emotionally open. Acts as a bridge between perspectives. sensitivity, listening skills, and subtle emotional shifts.
SECONDARY ROLES (NO SPEECH REQUIRED BUT PRESENCE OF MOST IMPORTANCE FOR ENDING SCENE)
BEATRICE (Female, 20–35ys)
Calm, composed, and grounded. Her presence is subtle yet significant. Limited dialogue but strong physical and emotional presence required. Excellent for actors interested in symbolic or minimalist roles.
THE GROOM of Beatrice (Male, 22–37ys)
Natural, steady, and real. Represents grounded reality. Non-dominant but important presence. Short but impactful role.
