A magical shop with a door that no one uses, with a salesperson who seems to never sell a thing other than quick words and a joke, yet they still give those out freely. The customers may never buy a thing, but they always leave feeling that bit more content. Who is this magical salesperson, who can make brooms sweep up after them and teacups fill themselves? More importantly what do they do when a customer teleports into their shop unimpressed with the salesperson’s desk-bound singing assistant and magic tricks, and instead is more interested in dispensing with their flatmate?

Character: The First Timer is conflicted, lacking proper communication skills and is aware of the magical world. They are not introverted but they clearly have a lot on their mind, they are not used to opening up their private life, but they are snappy and reactionary when other people get things wrong about it. They have a darker side, having considered the murder of their flatmate but having not committed to it, they are a conflicted individual, who is completely unprepared for questioning by The Salesperson.

Character Notes: One of the core characters within the narrative, The First Timer sets up the core conflict and moral dilemma of the film. They also represent a critical voice against The Salesperson and The Assistant’s wild magical antics, representing a resistance to new ideas and change.
