Research Participant (Filmmaker/Producer)

We're looking for lead filmmakers (those leading a film project, whether collaborative or commercial) who would like to help us test a new module and who will, in return, receive free legal advice and bespoke contracts for them and their team on their next project.

Tabb has just won an Innovate grant to introduce a legal contractual framework into our team-forming process whereby, in a simple and integrated fashion:

• The project owner can create contracts for members of the team that they bring on board.
• The team members (cast, crew etc.) can review and sign the contracts as part of the process of joining the team.

This results in at least:

• Avoiding the majority of potential disputes.
• It being clear who owns what percentage of the IP/copyright (chain of title).
• For collaborative projects: It being clear that this is, in legal terms, a venture partnership - nobody is exploiting anybody else and its not subject to employment law.
• For projects that make money: It being clear who gets what percentage of the revenue.

The time commitment from you will be roughly:

• Take part in three research sessions (1 to 3 hours each) at different stages in the project.
• Once the beta of the software is complete, use it with your team and feed back on what's working and what could do with improving.
• A little more stuff like that.
• Roughly 30 hours in total over a period of five months, delivered in short bursts by arrangement.
