JERRYBAG (screenplay) (Short film, 2020)

This short film screenplay I wrote for a recent screenwriting challenge - I got allocated 'historical fiction'. Very much out of my comfort zone, but great fun!

'JERRYBAG'

  • A derogatory term used during WW2 in Jersey, Channel Islands (the only British territory to be occupied by German forces). It was a term used to shame a woman who engaged in relationships with German soldiers. Some women even had their heads shaved as a punishment.

This is a story of love, judgement, community and humanity.

Everyone has their own narrative, and often not the opportunity to share it.

LOGLINE

On the final day of Jersey's occupation during World War II, a local woman learns that no matter what side you're on, everyone has a sense of duty. Whether it's to your country, your neighbour, or the German soldier you love - it takes strength to do what's right.
