Synopsis:
Jenna with Tools is a surreal, coming-of-age fairy tale that blends fantasy horror and dark humour. Set in a post climate apocalypse Somerset, it tells the story of Jenna, a young girl on the cusp of adulthood, determined to destroy a mythical creature known as the Wastrel, a once-human “musician” who murdered her father, before he consumes what's left of life on earth.
Looking for a Producer to submit an application to BFI/Film4 Future Takes, a high budget, live action, short film fund by 20th October.
The application must be made by the producer who must have an established track record in moving image work and be a UK resident. The producer cannot be the writer or director of the project. Further guidelines and eligibility criteria can be found on the BFI website.
The Project:
Jenna with Tools is a dark coming-of-age fantasy film with a comical twist reminiscent of 80s era fantasy films such as Legend (1985), Labyrinth (1986), and The Company of Wolves (1984). Through a surreal fairy tale lens this film explores the themes of loss, resilience, revenge, empowerment, and climate change, and answers the growing demand for genre hybridity and nostalgic cinematic experiences.
