Three roles for a gangster film. Filming to start early next year.
Jean (20-29)
She is shell shocked at the new responsibilities and pressure from her commanding officers. She has a background in the public sector of personal care for the elderly. After that job she decided to try out for the police service. Now she is head long in an investigation that will make her or break her. She is forced to act and find herself in between corrupt officers and cut-throat mobsters.
This is a journey of discovery for Jean as she learns the balance between cruelty with kindness. She begins to understand how the world works and to see it for what it really is. This is her journey to overcome this dog eat dog world.
At the start of the film Jean is timid and easily pushed around. The intimidating male characters constantly demonstrate their dominance as the stakes are high, when Jean only wants to do her job. Jean comes from nothing and has given up on life. The tales of Billy-boi Bones, her target, shows her of a life of gangership and freedom. She suddenly finds herself making new decisions that will change her and her life forever.
Flint (30-45)
Flint was the matriarch of the crime family. She was the life and soul of the party. She was loved by the men and revered by the women. She had the brains and brutality to be successful. Her and her alone was the reason the family became rich and powerful. She must have realized this because suddenly the family began to lose money. The accounts began to dry up. Flint was stealing the money from the family and about to run, she grew paranoid about the major players who wanted her out. When news broke that she was leaving her power and allies left as well. However because of the heights in which she achieved all are in her shadow from then on. This even leads many in the family to think that she will haunt them for seeking her money.
Officer “Red” Ruth (25-40)
She is a veteran officer of the force and one of the captain's best officers. Graduated highest in her class at the most esteemed police academy. She has medals for honor and service. She also spent time before her police days in the army, where she remains a honored war veteran as well. She is attractive but emotionless. Jean looks up to her very much and wishes she could someday be just like her.
She will sacrifice herself if needed to perform her duty as a police officer. She has clear ideas of right and wrong, this comes from her belief in god. She has hope, that carries her through almost anything. When she is killed on the island, she asks for a prayer to be say as she dies. Her captain is too proud, the doctor doesn’t know any and the squire is too useless.
