Eva (Short film, 2022)

A life-affirming silent short of lost friendship and unspoken things finally being said.

More on projectHide project details

A silent short of lost friendship and unspoken things finally being said. This life-affirming tale portrays two people, suddenly separated by one’s untimely death. Their unwillingness to let each other go shines through when both are given the chance to communicate beyond the grave through a simple lamp.

This story is universal and wordless. About what it means to talk to someone you love, after loss. Even for a few more words. It’s about grief and healing, in remembering what was and not clinging to what could be. In the end, they both have to let the lamp go. Yet only after finally saying what they never got the chance to say. We can fill in the blanks with whatever that something is.

Director’s Statement

Growing-up I was enthralled by the black-and-white silent era: “City Lights” and “The Kid”. Silence seemed a very powerful voice. Here, I wanted to tell a story that was universal and wordless. About remembering and letting go, after loss. This was a very humble first production, impossible without the great aid of the willing cast and friends.
