A response to a prosthetic limb thought to originate in Germany sometime in the 1500s, held in the Fitzwilliam Museum as part of the Univeristy of Cambridge’s Museums and Botantic Garden (Item number: M.23-1938).

I wanted to explore the inner-shame (due to internalised ableism) and feelings of confusion about how we as disabled men can build a relationship with and respond to ideas of masculinity if we can not perform them in a way that society demands, that is through white, cis-heteronormative, capitalist and able-bodied norms.

As part of their ongoing ‘Museum Remix’ project, University of Cambridge Museums and Botanic Gardens asked people to choose an under-explored object from their collections and respond to it in a creative way (this time through video).
