Dark Entrance: An Award-Winning Psychological Horror/Mystery Short Film (Short film, 2023)

Dark Entrance is an Islamic psychological horror/mystery short film.

A short synopsis: When a young woman comes across an entity from a world other than her own, it wants more than her soul.

Tagline: They are among us and always have been.

This project was a university project; it was my final major project. The reason I chose to make this film is because I am a huge fan of the horror genre and its subgenres. To be honest, it was actually horror films that lit the fire within me to want to become a filmmaker and a storyteller. Just to name a few of my favourite horror films: The Shining (1980), directed by Stanley Kubrick; The Conjuring" (2013), directed by James Wan; and Mirrors (2008), directed by Alexandre Aja.

Being the writer of this project, I believe that writing a script is a bit personal sometimes, which is why I chose this story to write. This film is an Islamic horror film. I wanted to mostly explore religion in horror films and why it's been used. I find this type of story very interesting. Personally, I believe stories are all around us. Sometimes we feel the need to go out there and look for it, and sometimes it just stares us right in the face.

As a filmmaker and a storyteller, I believe it is important to make films that really spark something within you—the type of films that you want to see but feel are missing when you go to the cinema.
