More on projectHide project details

At its heart, Clinging On is about letting go of the anxiety that comes with losing your hair. It's about reclaiming control over your own mind instead of letting insecurity dictate how you see yourself.

Hair loss isn't just about vanity. For many men, their hair is tied to identity, confidence and youth, which makes losing it surprisingly difficult to accept. By the age of 35, around two-thirds of men experience some degree of hair loss, yet it's rarely talked about with honesty. Instead, we're met with an endless stream of products and advertisements promising to "fix" something that's often completely natural.

Inspired by the warmth and vulnerability of communities like r/bald where men encourage one another to embrace rather than concealtheir hair loss, this film follows one man as he learns to stop hiding and starts accepting himself.

It's ultimately a romantic comedy about insecurity: a story that finds humour in the absurd lengths we'll go to avoid being seen, discovering that real confidence comes from allowing ourselves to be.

Wanted

HMUA

Role status:

Will close on 14 August, 2026

In return for:

Collaboration (expenses paid)

Expenses will be covered as will food. We will be holding a screening for the project as well as distributing it through various channels online.

Timing:

2 days from 05 September, 2026

Ideally I would love to do a recce with the production designer and then at least jump on one call with the Hair and Makeup Artist.

Location:

Based in Bristol, United Kingdom

I am looking for a talented Hair and Make Up Artist to work on a new short film. The film leans heavily into the hair angle as it is a comedy about male hair loss shot like a shampoo advert from the 1990s - think glossy, shiny hair as well as some wild scenes with hair paint. Loads of room to be creative. Looking for someone up and coming who wants to add some great moments to their showreel and be part of a fun team. Expenses only at the moment but there may be room for a fee (this is by no means guaranteed at the moment as we are working the budget out still)

Please get in touch if this sounds like the right project for you!
