In a time where viable soil on earth has been severely depleted, a highly trained man is assigned to find an arable exo-planet. He is debriefed by his superior on his latest findings. Their conversation is mediated by a drone sent to verify the report but after a prolonged interrogation, his reliability comes into question.
RANDWICK is best imagined as a caricature of a former SAS soldier, though his heightened characteristics are entirely justified by the extent of the hardship he has endured.
He is highly skilled and very resilient, and his mind has been electronically enhanced so he can go for weeks without sleep. He was motivated to undertake this mission because he knows that he is the best person for the job. He has been completely infallible for years but his line of work has taken a toll; he cannot survey another planet. His only means of discharge from his duty would be success in finding somewhere arable.
It is in Randwick’s interests not to alarm his handler with any news that might not satisfy their agenda. His sense of duty and instinct to be truthful have been eroded. If this place poses any danger he might not disclose it.
We are seeking a visual effects artist to contribute to our no-budget sci-fi short film, to create and composite a large, imposing, remote-operated drone. There are two shots that we need the drone to appear in but it's possible there might be some work we need done to clean up other shots.
Principal photography was completed last week and we are just starting the editing process now.
We are well equipped with references and ideas and between us have a foundation of knowledge about 3D modelling, animation and compositing so will have realistic expectations!
Don't feel the need to send a formal application, a casual EOI with a link to examples of your work will be sufficient.
Thanks,
Hal and Jonathan
