Onn San is an award-winning composer for film, TV and video games. Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Onn was tutored at the New York University, TISCH School of the Arts where he received his MFA as a composer.
In 2019, Onn was nominated for “Best Original Film Score” at the 56th Golden Horse Award for the film, The Garden of Evening Mists (TGOEM). Onn San is the first Malaysian to be nominated in this category since 1962 (ref. finas.gov.my). The film also received 8 other nominations including “Best Narrative Feature”. Among his other film works include: Think Big Big, Shuttle Life, J Revolusi, Anak Merdeka, Aku Haus Darah Mu, Berani, The Harvester, Jarum Halus and the critically-acclaimed Malaysian film, Ola Bola where he was nominated and won "Best Original Film Score" award at the 28th Malaysian Film Festival (FFM) in 2016. Onn has also written theme songs - We Will Believe Again (Ola Bola), Rempuh (J Revolusi) and recently, Drifting (Shuttle Life) starring Sylvia Chang.
In September 2017, Onn was chosen to be the music composer of the official ceremonies for the 9th ASEAN Paralympic Games. His inspiring scores for Ola Bola was also performed by the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra (MPO) making it the first of its kind in Malaysia.
