My passion as a writer/director is for storytelling and filmmaking. I'm tired of this thing they call realism, social or otherwise. We are developing, in Handy Cloud, what some have called a 'spiritual style' in cinema (what we are calling 'cinema in extremis') and for me this is epitomised by the likes of Robert Bresson, Andrei Tarkovsky, Krzysztof Kieslowski and Ingmar Bergman. It is a more poetic vision of life. Tarkovsky thought that the opposite of aesthetic was anaesthetic, which I believe realism to have provided the latter; a numbing effect on our imagination, a personal ennui and cultural languor.
"Seeing Rachel" fuses the suspense of Hitchcock with the paranoia of Pakula's 'Klute'.
